About Deborah
Meet the author
I grew up in Northern Minnesota. I joined the Navy shortly after graduating from high school and served several years in the military, including the Missouri Army National Guard, where I was able to travel and make many friends around the world. I worked as a helicopter Avionics Technician, Mechanic and Plane Captain. But I dreamt of becoming an author starting at a very young age.
My first book, Broken Slippers, was released in December 2013 and dedicated to my brother, David Rowbottom, who struggled with disabilities. David is now living among the Angels and I am sure he is teaching them a joke or two! Broken Slippers, is an inspirational story with several twists and turns, which puts value on new friendships, hope and believing in yourself and your dreams. I am getting requests to turn this into a series and to continue the story, which I am working on. I am actively writing the second and a third books at this time. Broken Slippers was nominated for Best Book of the year in 2015. It did not win an award, but the book was recognized. Which was a great accomplishment for my first published book!
Next I released my first picture book, Telly's Tail, in June 2016 which is well loved by younger children. Telly is an adventurous little pig that gets himself into a little bit of trouble. This is a cute tale that started out as a nursery rhyme for my son, Robbie, and it is printed at the end of the book!
I am currently working on my third book, The Groundhog Rabbit, with the release date coming out in the Fall of 2024. This is a cute tale about a little rabbit that wants to be the greatest animal impersonator of all. He is told to go be a normal little rabbit, but his dream is important to him, he almost gives up, but does he? You’ll have to read this story to see the surprising outcome. The Illustrations to this cute picture book are being done by my daughter-in-law, Jewell Crews.
