Original stories for children

My picture books originated as nursery rhymes that I had wrote for my son when he was a little boy. Telly’s Tail is the first of my picture books to be released, with The Groundhog Rabbit coming out later in the year, 2023. Broken Slippers is my first chapter book and I am working on many more. I have had requests to make Broken Slippers into a series, from those who have read and loved the story! It has a 5 star rating from my readers! The second book to the Broken Slippers series, Lost Slippers, is in the works now. I plan to have it coming out in 2024. I believe in good morals, a little bit of history, and lessons learned. Marketing

One of the tough things to do as an Author is to get the word out about you and your published books. That is where marketing comes in! Word of mouth can be a good way to get started by going through your family and friends. Let them know about your books, and give a few away for free so that they can read your book and appreciate its value. It can be a little bit intimidating at first to find out what they feel about your book, but just remember all feedback is good. Each family member and friend has their own separate circle of friends and the more that they can get the word out about your book, the better.

Another way to market your book is to attend local and out-of-state vendor events. Most of these events do not cost very much to set up a booth and the small cost is worth it to get your book out there into the public hands. Many local Libraries offer Author events where you can feature your book too. Also, when you are at the Library, ask them if they feature local Authors for a book reading to the public. Then get on their schedule to come in to read your book.

Local Book Stores are another avenue to market. Go in and ask the owner if they would be interested in setting up a book talk and signing for you to feature your book. Some bookstores will even sell your book on their bookshelves for a split of the percentage of the price of the book after it is sold at the store.

The Writers Guild is another good source for marketing. You can go online and Google, Writers Guild to look for a local chapter near you. This Guild holds monthly meetings for their members and the general public. Many publishers, writers, editors, etc. attend these meetings where they hold panels that cover a wide range of information for writers to use. They welcome all Writers to attend!

And of course, there is the option to set up your own website to offer your book(s) for sale to the online population. Just like I am doing! Good luck with your new adventure!
